  3. WHAT IS VARITALE ALL ABOUT?

  5. This is  VariTale,  where  you can join
  6. with others in  creating  a story.  But
  7. it's not like  any  story  you've  ever
  8. read before!   A VariTale goes wherever
  9. you  and  your  fellow writers  want it
  10. to!  And  if  you  don't  like  the way
  11. it's been  going,  you can  propose  an
  12. alternative path.

  14. Once again, in case we weren't emphatic
  15. enough:  YOU  can  make  the stories go
  16. where you want them to!

  19. EXAMPLES
  20.  
  21. Let's say somebody writes a rip-roaring
  22. thriller of  an adventure,  but to your
  23. chagrin, he kills off a really neat bad
  24. guy in the third chapter.  What a loss!
  25. If this was a regular book,  you'd just
  26. have to accept what the author decreed.
  27. But in a VariTale, you can write a dif-
  28. ferent version  of that chapter.

  30. Good  bad  guys  are  hard to  come by.
  31. Now you can keep 'em coming back!

  33. Let's say the story is a  romance.  You
  34. decide that they kissed and made up be-
  35. fore anybody could get worried.  Where,
  36. you ask,  is the bitter-sweet  agony of
  37. a tumultuous love affair?  Well, you'll
  38. just have to put some in, yourself!

  41. DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE CRITICS!

  43. Your story entries are  anonymous  (un-
  44. less you  deliberately sign your name).
  45. So you don't have to be a great writer.
  46. What's more,  you can let your imagina-
  47. tion fly!  After all,  it's YOUR story.
